Wall Hangings

I had fun with these to projects, got to get good and messy.  For the background, I mixed some Create-a-Shade pearl paint with cocoa reinker.  I did the wording on my computer then added the cross, using universal backgrounds for the wood look.  I distressed it by sponge daubing the edges with desert sand, then wadding the paper into a ball.  After stretching it back out again I sponge daubed the entire paper with desert sand to highlight all the crevices.  I stamped the canvas using the You and Me stampset (retired) and Archival Black ink.  Then I covered the whole thing with Modge Podge (that's the messy part)  After it dried I added the ribbon for hanging and brads to finish it off.

One added affect that I didn't expect was the added green spotled affect on the paper after I added the Modge Podge, apparently that came from using water-based reinker.  I actually love the affect, I think it adds to the distressed look, but with the next wall hanging I used some Ranger alcohol denim reinker with the Create-a-Shade pearl paint, and that seemed to not spottle as much.  For this one I used the AP cartridge for the house, and added some metal corners instead of brads.
